Dr. Randy McCrillis has been named Senior International Officer at the University of Utah. The appointment, effective September 16, 2024, was recently announced by Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mitzi Montoya.
This position serves as the leader and administrative manager for the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) and is tasked with implementing the new Internationalization 2030 strategic plan.
“We desired the next leader of OGE to be someone who actively participated in the strategic plan’s development and has strong connections around campus. I am enthusiastic about the direction of OGE and believe Randy will be a great champion of the U’s vision to leverage Utah’s spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration toward global impact,” said Keith Diaz Moore, Associate Provost for Institutional Planning and Design, who has overseen OGE since June 2023.
McCrillis has served as Dean of Students for the University of Utah Asia Campus in Incheon, South Korea, since 2016 and in 2020 assumed the role of Executive Director for that campus. He has been instrumental in building the international campus from 14 to over 600 students over the last ten years.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to assume the leadership role for the Office for Global Engagement and the new Internationalization 2030 strategic plan. This is an exciting and pivotal moment in our history where we have the chance to diligently concentrate on broadening the University of Utah’s global engagement,” said Randy McCrillis.
The Office for Global Engagement is the University of Utah’s administrative campus hub for cross-cultural education, mobility, outreach, and scholarship. The office provides leadership, infrastructure, and best practices to support campus global initiatives.
Key objectives of the Internationalization 2030 plan include bolstering the international student body, fortifying international research efforts, increasing the percentage of U students who learn abroad, and enhancing global academic programs and initiatives.
