3 Ways to have a Global Experience at the U
Learning Abroad offers three main experiences for students:
STUDY
Immerse yourself in new academic environments and cultures through a wide range of study programs. Enhance your language skills, explore global perspectives, and earn credit toward your degree while experiencing life in another country.
RESEARCH
Collaborate with scholars and researchers worldwide through global research initiatives. Engage in cutting-edge projects, contribute to innovative discoveries, and broaden your research skillset.
INTERNSHIP
Develop career skills, expand your network, and enhance your resume while working in an international setting. Global internships are available in many industries and fields.
Different Program Types Offer Different Experiences
After exploring what type of experience you want to pursue—study, research, or internship—let’s dive into the program types that will help you get there.
FACULTY-LED PROGRAMS
Explore the world with U students.
Faculty-led programs combine coursework with in-country experiences. You will travel on a set itinerary with your fellow U students under the direction of U faculty. It’s a U experience with the added bonus of being abroad.
Program lengths vary from two weeks to a full semester, giving students an opportunity to find the perfect fit for their schedule.
FACULTY-LED PROGRAMS
Study at a partner university.
The U partners with 34 prestigious universities worldwide to offer immersive exchange programs. You will study alongside local students at top-ranked institutions. Flexible coursework aligns with your major, minor, and general education requirements.
Students who choose this path enjoy the independence of being one of the few (possibly the only) University of Utah students on the program, while receiving support from the U Learning Abroad team and host university staff.
AFFILIATE AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS
Study and Intern with other U.S. students.
Choose from hundreds of programs through the U’s long-standing Affiliate and Internship partners. These programs provide a wide range of academic, internship, community engagement, service learning, research, and cultural exchange opportunities.
Students on Affiliate and Internship programs study and work alongside local students and students from all over the U.S.
UNIVERSITY OF UTAH ASIA CAMPUS
Earn U credit while living and learning in South Korea.
The University of Utah Asia Campus allows you to fulfill general education or major requirements while having an international experience in Incheon, South Korea—an hour from Seoul.
