U Dream Center Receives Funds to Support Students from Mexico

Xris Macias, Dream Center Director

This summer José V. Borjón, Head Consul of Mexico in Salt Lake City, officially awarded the University of Utah Dream Center $4,000 in grant funds, to be matched by the Dream Center on behalf of the Government of Mexico as part of their IME (Institute for Mexicans Abroad) Becas (Scholarships in English) program.

The IME Becas program seeks to support low-income Mexican students living in the United States who are completing basic education, higher education or technological careers.

The Dream Center funds will be used to provide undocumented students (with and without DACA) financial assistance that closely resembles the funding available to United States Citizens and Legal Permanent Residents through FAFSA. Students do not have to be undocumented to receive funding, but will be prioritized.

These funds will be matched by the Center, and distributed to Mexican students or students of Mexican origin attending school in Utah.

Applications for these scholarships will be accepted until August, 7, 2021. Apply now at https://ugs.formstack.com/forms/imebecasdream2021

For questions regarding the application or the partnership, please contact Xris Macias, Dream Center Director, at 801-581-3470 or xris.macias@utah.edu.
