Chalimar Swain, Chalimar Swain, joined the University of Utah in April 2010. She has worked in international education for 10 years. Chalimar brings experience in international student advising, immigration compliance, recruitment, international partnerships, administration, and ESL to the office formerly known as the International Center. She has a background in business and human resources management and is currently completing a joint PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy and Masters in Public Administration. Chalimar is a member of AIEA (Association of International Education Administrators), AIRC (American International Recruitment Council), and EAIE (European Association of International Educators), and serves on the University’s Behavioral Intervention Team and Bias Incident Response Team.
Chalimar particularly enjoys helping people develop intercultural competence and has conducted workshops, presentations, and trainings both in the US and abroad on intercultural communication, international student needs and experiences, and working successfully with diverse groups. Outside work, she enjoys climbing and peak bagging, travel, and spending time with her husband and family.
